Planning Your Event  
   

The Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium is available for exclusive rental year-round.

Once you have signed a contract to host your event at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium, please make sure to complete the following:

LIQUOR LICENSE
To apply for liquor license from the District of Columbia you will need an original letter from the building complete the attached request form. Requests should be made at least 60 days prior to your event.

CERTIFICATES OF INSURANCE
A certificate of insurance should be faxed, not mailed, to 202-786-0022 at least 30 days prior to your event date. The Client must have not less than $2,000,000 of general liability insurance pertaining to the event, with Event Emissary and the United States Government named as additional insured.

LOAD-IN / LOAD-OUT SCHEDULE
All clients must submit a load-in and load out schedule with a floor plan as well as a door schedule at least 30 days prior to your event. A final schedule should be submitted 7 days prior to your event. Load-In for your event will not begin if this document has not been received.

Load-In / Load-Out Schedule - Assign all vendors to East or West side of the building.

Door Schedule - Used to determine exact times specific doors are to be opened for vendors and guests. Doors that can be opened include Front Glass Doors, East and West Wooden Doors and East and West Rear Glass Doors. For Security reasons, the AWMA will be unable to open specific doors unless listed on this schedule.

FREIGHT FORMS
Freight forms must be completed for all deliveries to the Mellon Auditorium. All supplier freight forms should be collected by the client and faxed 3 days prior to your event to 202-786-0022.

CAPACITY
The capacity of the AWMA is limited to 1000 persons max. This number pertains to standing receptions, utilizing reception area, auditorium, balcony and three rooms behind the auditorium. Other limits may apply depending on the nature or type of event.

APPROVED VENDORS
The Mellon Auditorium has a community of approved vendors which can handle any event need a client may have from lighting and décor design to catering and food and beverage. Please contact the AWMA staff for information about Approved Vendors.

LOCATION
Located between 12th and 14th Streets, NW on Constitution Avenue, the Mellon Auditorium is directly across the street from the National Mall, within walking distance of the Washington Monument and the White House and on the South Side of the Federal Triangle. The auditorium is accessible through the Federal Triangle Metro Station, or metered parking along Constitution Avenue.
